Summer

This is the result of lots of layering of paint over time. It is summer, in the sense of summer fruit, cool drinks, time spent by the water, swimsuits hanging to dry, but also the specific sticky haze of slow childhood holidays where everything and nothing happens. The layers are time, which many of us grow up to see as a linear progression, but perhaps it’s best experienced “through” not just as a march ahead, or perhaps as Jenny Odell writes, “outward.”
